Into the Book

Here is a really neat site I found that will help students develop better understanding of the thinking strategies. This is an interactive site. Just click on the kids get into the book. You will have to register and get a user key. Make sure that you write this down so you do not forget. It will track your progress through the site.

Into the Book

3-21-11

Hi All

We are starting measurement, perimeter, and area this week. The spelling words are from our investigation of plane figures next week and will combine spelling and math quizzes into one test. Students will write the name under the figure. They will get credit on the math part even if they spell it wrong. There are several links up for our new math and I will try to get the videos and tall tale podcasts linked here soon.

Poetry Contest

Hi all,

The students have a poetry assignment that we are working on today and tomorrow. They are to write an original poem no more than 20 lines and use one of the poetry forms we have worked with this year. We have talked about list poems, name poems, rhyming,non-rhyming, alliteration, onomatopoeia, silly poems, poems about a topic. The students have the option to enter these poems in a  poetry contest. Here is the link to the online submission form. They will have time to work on them in school and can type them into a word document and bring home for you to enter them or if you give permission to your child they can enter here at school.

Comic Creator

Hi All

We started to mess around with a new resource called Bitstrips. It is a really neat program that allows you to make comics quickly and easily. We will be using this for a project in the near future so please let your child play and experiment with it. All comics have to be approved by me before they are made public. Some students need to complete an introductory assignment tonight if they did not finish in class.
